On July 17, Hainan International Arbitration Court (HIAC) held its first-half work summary meeting for 2026. The meeting comprehensively reviewed the work carried out in the first half of the year, analysed existing issues, and made arrangements for the key work in the second half. The meeting was chaired by Chairman Wang Shuai, and all staff members attended.

During the meeting, the General Affairs Department, Arbitration Department One, Arbitration Department Two, Development Department, Internal Supervision Department, International Commercial Mediation Center, and Sanya Branch respectively delivered reports on their respective core functions. They summarised the phased achievements made in the first half of the year in areas such as Party building, case handling, foreign-related arbitration, internal management, and team building. They also objectively analysed shortcomings in business development, case quality and efficiency, service support, institutional development, proposed work plans and implementation measures for the second half, taking into account industry trends and the needs of the rule-of-law development in Hainan FTP.

Chairman Wang Shuai delivered a concluding speech. He fully affirmed the performance and collaborative efforts of all departments in the first half, and praised all staff for their commitment to the arbitration mission, dedication to commercial dispute resolution, and practical contributions to the rule-of-law business environment of Hainan FTP. At the same time, with a view to the long-term development of the arbitration cause, he identified clear directions for improvement regarding current operational pain points, business difficulties, and management weaknesses. He made systematic arrangements for key work such as arbitration development, case quality enhancement, standardization, and regular internal supervision. He called on HIAC to unify thinking, clarify responsibilities, and make targeted efforts, so as to push HIAC’s work to a new level with higher standards, better services and stricter management.

This summary meeting was both a comprehensive review of the first half's work and an arrangement for the second half. Going forward, HIAC will continue to stay committed to the goals of building an international commercial arbitration centre and cultivating a world-class Chinese-style international arbitration institution. It will consolidate its core business, sharpen its professional capabilities and address shortcomings, so as to continue providing fair, efficient, and professional arbitration legal services to all kinds of commercial entities.
