Chairman Wang Shuai extended a warm welcome to Mr. Koh. The two sides engaged in in-depth discussions on key topics such as the specialized development of seed industry arbitration under the Hainan Free Trade Port, international commercial arbitration cooperation, and cross-border seed industry dispute resolution mechanisms, exploring new pathways for cooperation in seed industry arbitration. Chairman Wang noted that HIAC, guided by a core development strategy focused on specialization, differentiation, and internationalization, and leveraging the geographical advantages of the Hainan Nanfan Silicon Valley, has formulated China’s first Seed Industry Arbitration Rules, establishing a unique arbitration development strategy with Hainan characteristics. HIAC will further strengthen its coordination and collaboration with courts, the International Seed Federation, and other stakeholders, promote seed industry arbitration services through various means, and strive to become a premier global forum for the resolution of seed industry disputes.

Vice President Chen Huajun and Mr. Koh exchanged views on specific issues such as the protection of new plant varieties and the application of law in seed industry arbitration, thoroughly discussing practical approaches to intellectual property protection in the seed industry. They also reached a consensus on further cooperation to establish a Hainan platform for seed industry dispute resolution.

Relevant department heads of HIAC attended the meeting. After the talks, Mr. Koh conducted an on-site visit of HIAC’s office and case-handling facilities.
